Taylor Momsen, known for her roles in “Gossip Girl” and as the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, is embracing her new moniker, “Batgirl,” following a frightening incident onstage.
During a performance in Spain while opening for AC/DC, Momsen, 30, was bitten by a bat. She shared a video of the incident on Instagram, where she can be seen reacting to the crowd’s pointing before noticing the bat on her leg. “There’s a (expletive) flying bat on my leg right now,” she exclaimed, seeking assistance from the audience.
The incident occurred during the performance of “Witches Burn,” prompting Momsen to jest, “I must really be a witch.” Despite the unexpected interruption, she assured the crowd that the bat was “fine” after its removal and joked that it would be her “new friend.”
However, the encounter led to Momsen receiving medical attention for the bat bite, showcasing red marks on her leg in a subsequent video.
Momsen recounted the incident on Instagram, revealing that she would need rabies shots for the next two weeks due to the bat’s bite. She expressed gratitude to the hospital staff and humorously mentioned being dubbed “#batgirl” by the local news.
Throughout her posts, Momsen maintained a lighthearted attitude, referring to the bat as “cute” despite the ordeal. She also addressed concerns about the pain, noting that the shots were uncomfortable.
Despite the incident, Momsen shared a backstage photo posing next to a playful “no bats” sign, indicating that their next show would be “bat-free.” The Pretty Reckless continues their tour supporting AC/DC, with upcoming performances scheduled in the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria.
